Health Ministry Stresses Compliance With Health Regulations For Quality Healthcare Standards

The Ministry of Health is intensifying its oversight to ensure adherence to health regulations. This effort aims to uphold high standards in healthcare and provide a safe environment for everyone, including both citizens and residents. The ministry emphasises the necessity for healthcare professionals, medical facilities, and pharmaceutical entities to comply with all health laws in the Kingdom.

The Law of Practicing Healthcare Professions prohibits practitioners from using unscientific or banned methods for diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, practitioners are restricted from self-promotion or using unrecognised titles unless specified by executive regulations. These measures ensure that healthcare services remain transparent and credible.

Advertising by private health institutions is strictly regulated. It must adhere to executive regulations and professional ethics. This ensures that health services are provided with transparency and credibility. The law also governs how pharmaceutical products are handled before they reach the market.

The Law on Pharmaceutical Establishments mandates that pharmaceutical products must be registered with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority before circulation. Advertisements for these products are subject to strict regulatory controls to prevent misleading claims, protecting consumers from potential harm.

Non-compliance with these regulations can lead to severe penalties. Violations may result in fines up to SAR10 million, imprisonment for up to 10 years, closure of non-compliant establishments, and revocation of licenses for practitioners and institutions involved.

Selling, dispensing, or possessing unregistered pharmaceutical products for commercial purposes is considered a violation of the law. Such actions undermine consumer safety and trust in the healthcare system.
