Health Ministry Takes Firm Action On Unlicensed Medical Practices To Ensure Patient Safety

In a significant move to uphold medical ethics and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with various government entities, has taken decisive action against medical impostors and violators. These individuals were found engaging in health practices that contravene professional duties and ethics. As a result, they have been referred to the Public Prosecution to face appropriate penalties.

Further investigations led to the discovery of serious violations at a private healthcare facility's same-day surgery department. The Ministry of Health identified multiple breaches, including a nurse operating beyond her qualifications as a dermatology specialist, the operation of two same-day surgery rooms without the necessary licenses, and several doctors conducting surgeries without valid healthcare practice licenses. These actions not only breach regulations but also pose significant risks to patient safety.

Crackdown on Unlicensed Medical Practices

To address these violations, the ministry has shut down the implicated department and referred the offenders to the Public Prosecution for legal action. This step underscores the ministry's commitment to enforcing health regulations and ensuring that healthcare services are provided by licensed professionals in approved facilities.

The Ministry of Health has issued a stern reminder about the importance of adhering to health regulations and preventive measures within the Kingdom. It has also called on the community to seek medical services only from licensed facilities and practitioners. Highlighting patient rights, the ministry stressed that service areas must display licenses visibly.

Additionally, the ministry warned against consulting unlicensed medical practitioners or receiving services from unauthorized sources. Such practices not only endanger patient safety but also undermine the integrity of the medical profession. The Healthcare Professions Regulation explicitly prohibits practicing any healthcare profession without a license, examining patients outside designated areas, and healthcare practitioners from advertising or promoting themselves directly or indirectly.

This crackdown on medical impostors and regulatory violations is part of a broader effort to protect public health and maintain high standards within the healthcare sector. By enforcing these regulations, the Ministry of Health aims to ensure that all medical services in the Kingdom meet established safety and ethical standards.
