Health Minister Fahad AlJalajel Launches Nationwide Walk 30 Event In Riyadh To Enhance Public Health
Minister of Health Fahad AlJalajel has launched the fifth Walk 30 event in Riyadh. This initiative, the largest of its kind in Saudi Arabia, aims to boost public health and prevent chronic diseases. It aligns with the Health Sector Transformation Program, a key part of Saudi Vision 2030. The event involves widespread participation across 124 cities and governorates.
The Walk 30 initiative is not limited to Riyadh. It spans various regions, including Aseer with 38 sites, Jazan with 26, and Qassim with 14. Other locations include Tabuk and Hail with nine each, Northern Borders with eight, Bisha with five, and two sites in the Eastern Region. Makkah, Jeddah, Madinah, Taif, Al-Baha, Al-Qunfudhah, Najran, Al-Ahsa, Hafar Al-Batin, Al-Qurayyat, and Al-Jouf each host one event location.

During the launch at Riyadh's Sports Boulevard, a project designed to integrate sports into daily life was highlighted. Minister AlJalajel emphasized that Walk 30 is more than just a sports event; it embodies Vision 2030's goals by fostering a vibrant and healthy society. He noted that physical activity levels have significantly increased. Now, 58% of the population engages in at least 150 minutes of exercise weekly.
Sports Boulevard Foundation CEO Jayne McGivern expressed pride in hosting Walk 30 at the Promenade in Riyadh. She highlighted the strategic partnership with the Ministry of Health to promote walking culture and active lifestyles. This collaboration supports both the Health Sector Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030.
McGivern stated that their project aims to enhance Riyadh's global standing as a livable city. This effort contributes to Vision 2030's goal of improving physical, psychological, and social well-being while creating an attractive environment for residents and visitors.
The Walk 30 event underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to public health through community engagement. By encouraging regular exercise across numerous locations nationwide, it seeks to instill healthier habits among its citizens.
