Health Minister Fahd Al-Jalajel Highlights Saudi Arabia's Role In Global Health At G20 Meetings In Brazil
Minister of Health Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel took part in the G20 joint finance and health ministerial meeting in Brazil. He also joined a high-level discussion on One Health, held alongside these meetings. The minister pointed out Saudi Arabia's leadership in promoting the One Health approach, showcasing its commitment to advancing this agenda globally.
Al-Jalajel highlighted Saudi Arabia's significant role in global health protection, particularly by controlling Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS). This effort limited zoonotic transmission and reduced its public-health impact, preventing a pandemic. The Kingdom continues to uphold this commitment through its comprehensive vision for One Health.

The minister stressed the importance of international cooperation to tackle antimicrobial resistance. He emphasized moving from declarations made at United Nations meetings to implementing effective measures against antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This highlights the need for global collaboration in addressing such pressing health issues.
Al-Jalajel announced the Fourth Global High-Level Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance, set for November 15-16 in Jeddah. This conference aims to boost coordination and collaborative efforts on AMR priorities, aligning with G20 goals. It will serve as a platform to address this growing global challenge effectively.
The Kingdom remains a pivotal player in tackling global challenges, offering solutions and sharing expertise internationally to combat pandemics and emerging health risks. Al-Jalajel noted that Saudi Arabia is committed to being a central hub for addressing these issues through international efforts.
