The World Health Organization (WHO) has acknowledged Saudi Arabia's efforts in eliminating trans fats from food products. This achievement places the Kingdom among the leading nations in this area. Additionally, the WHO has recognized Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), for reaching maturity level four (ML4) in medicines and vaccines regulation. This makes Saudi Arabia the first country in its region to achieve this top classification within the WHO framework.

Over SAR 50 Billion in Health Investments Announced

Al-Jalajel highlighted a remarkable expansion in Saudi Arabia’s private health insurance sector. The number of insured individuals grew from 3 million in 2011 to over 12 million by the end of 2023. The market size has reached up to 40 billion Saudi riyals, with expectations to double by 2030.

The pharmaceutical sector in Saudi Arabia is also experiencing rapid growth, nearing an annual rate of 10%. It is projected to exceed 72 billion Saudi riyals by 2030, marking it as the fastest-growing among G20 countries.

The Ministry of Health is working on two parallel tracks to enhance national healthcare professionals' excellence. The first track focuses on investing in local talent by expanding Saudi Board seats and improving training and localization programs. The second track aims to foster partnerships and attract international experts to collaborate with skilled Saudi professionals.

Saudi Arabia has granted premium residency to over 2,600 exceptional healthcare professionals. This move is part of efforts to bolster the Kingdom's healthcare workforce with top-tier talent.

Modern Healthcare Model

The Kingdom’s Modern Healthcare Model currently serves 28 million beneficiaries. Through digital services, more than 50 million appointments have been scheduled, and over 30 million beneficiaries have received virtual consultations via the unified platform NPHIES.

These advancements reflect Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing its healthcare system and addressing global health challenges effectively. With continued investments and strategic initiatives, the Kingdom aims to maintain its position as a leader in healthcare innovation and excellence.
