Dubai Municipality Unveils UAE’s Longest Mountain Trails In Hatta

Dubai Municipality has developed the UAE's longest mountain trails, featuring 21 cycling routes covering 53 kilometres and 17 walking trails spanning 33 kilometres. The Hatta Mountain Trails also include nine wooden bridges and 14 rest stops with service facilities. This project aims to establish Hatta as a premier tourist destination in the region.

The trails are categorised into four colour-coded levels of difficulty. Green includes four tracks each for cycling and walking. Blue offers six cycling tracks and three walking paths. Red features eight cycling routes and six walking trails. Lastly, Black comprises three cycling trails and four walking paths.

Dawoud Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, stated, "In line with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the Hatta Mountain Trails project has been developed to enhance the quality of living in Dubai and position it as the most active and healthy city in the world. Our ambition is to implement initiatives that serve the Hatta area, establishing it as a leading tourist destination for residents and tourists."

The first phase of the project involved a comprehensive development plan completed in just 10 months. This phase included expanding and maintaining existing hiking and mountain bike trails while stabilising soil in certain areas to improve visitor experience. Additionally, all existing bridges underwent maintenance, with damaged ones being replaced.

The second phase focused on constructing rest stops and service facilities along the trails. It also included installing 176 signposts and 650 directional signs to ensure cyclists have a safe experience on the Hatta Mountain Trails.

Scenic Routes

The Hatta Mountain Trails traverse various terrains such as rocky paths, mountainous regions, rugged peaks, and valleys. These routes offer panoramic views, allowing outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels to appreciate Hatta's unique natural beauty.

Al Hajri added that the Hatta Mountain Trails meet the highest health and safety standards.

This initiative by Dubai Municipality aims to boost tourism while promoting an active lifestyle among residents and visitors alike.
