Haramain Railway To Provide Nearly Two Million Seats For Hajj Season 1446 AH With Increased Capacity
Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) is set to offer nearly two million seats for pilgrims on the Haramain High-Speed Railway during the 1446 AH Hajj season. This represents a 25% increase, or 400,000 additional seats, compared to last year. The expansion demonstrates SAR's readiness to serve pilgrims with top-notch safety, efficiency, and quality standards.
The Haramain High-Speed Railway spans 453 kilometres, linking five major stations: Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah's Sulaymaniyyah station, King Abdullah Economic City station, and King Abdulaziz International Airport station. This network ensures smooth and comfortable travel between the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah.

During this year's Hajj season, SAR will operate 4,768 trips from Dhu al-Qi'dah 1 to Dhu al-Hijjah 20. The railway is crucial in transporting pilgrims as part of Saudi Arabia's modern mobility system. It is the fastest transport mode between Makkah and Madinah, completing the journey in about two hours.
The Haramain Railway ranks among the world's ten fastest passenger trains, reaching speeds up to 300 kilometres per hour. Its fleet consists of 35 trains, each accommodating 417 passengers. Notably, these trains produce zero carbon emissions, offering an eco-friendly transport solution that eases road congestion while improving travel quality for pilgrims.
SAR utilises its expertise to deliver safe and efficient transport services for pilgrims travelling between Makkah and Madinah. This operational strategy aligns with a broader national initiative to enhance pilgrim services through collaboration with various government bodies.
