Haramain Railway Achieves Milestone With Over 1 Million Ramadan Travelers
Makkah, Saudi Arabia – In a significant achievement for the Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), the organization proudly announced its operational success during the 1445 AH Ramadan season. Demonstrating a notable increase in its service capacity, SAR successfully transported over 1 million passengers through the Haramain High-Speed Railway. This railway serves as a vital link between the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, marking a 22% increase in passenger volume compared to the previous Ramadan season in 1444 AH.
Throughout the holy month, SAR managed to operate 2,845 trips, indicating a 12% rise from the year before. This enhanced service was specifically aimed at accommodating the visitors of the Two Holy Mosques, ensuring their journey was as smooth and convenient as possible. The operational plan's success was attributed to several strategic enhancements, including an increase in the number of trips and available seating, which underscored SAR's commitment to improving travel experiences for pilgrims by offering more flexible transportation options.

The execution of this comprehensive operational plan was meticulously coordinated with the Saudi-Spanish consortium responsible for operating the high-speed train, alongside relevant government entities. This coordination was under the direct oversight of Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Board of Directors at SAR. The plan aimed not only to facilitate seamless travel between Makkah and Madinah but also to ensure the utmost safety and comfort for passengers throughout their journey.
One of the key aspects of SAR's operational strategy during Ramadan was the careful scheduling of trips to coincide with prayer times at the Two Holy Mosques. This thoughtful consideration further highlights SAR's dedication to meeting the needs of visitors, ensuring they could perform their rituals without concern for their travel arrangements.
The successful implementation of SAR's operational plan for Ramadan 1445 AH reflects a significant achievement in enhancing the pilgrimage experience for thousands of visitors. By increasing capacity and ensuring alignment with prayer schedules, SAR has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating a more accessible and comfortable journey for those visiting the holy cities during this sacred month.
