Haramain High-Speed Railway Sets New Record With 48,000 Passengers Transported In One Day During Ramadan

The Haramain High-Speed Railway achieved a milestone by transporting approximately 48,000 passengers in a single day during Ramadan. This record was set on the 15th day of the holy month. Since Ramadan began, the train has seen an average daily ridership exceeding 39,000 passengers. This highlights its popularity as the quickest way to reach Makkah.

To meet the increasing demand, the Saudi Railway Company (SAR) has made adjustments to train schedules. These changes align with peak times for Umrah performers and visitors. Additionally, passenger flow routes within stations have been modified to improve movement. Extra lounges have also been added at the Madinah station to enhance the travel experience.

The Haramain High-Speed Railway is a key transportation project for worshippers throughout the year. It connects Makkah and Madinah via Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, and King Abdullah Economic City. The railway operates on a 453-kilometer electric line and is among the world's top 10 fastest trains, reaching speeds of up to 300 km/h.

During Ramadan's last ten days, daily trips increased to 130 to accommodate more passengers. SAR had announced its operational plan before Ramadan started. This plan included offering 1.6 million seats across over 3,400 trips on the Haramain High-Speed Railway.

The railway continues to operate at full capacity due to high demand during Ramadan. Adjustments in train schedules and station facilities aim to provide a smoother travel experience for all passengers. These efforts ensure that worshippers can reach their destinations efficiently and comfortably.
