Hamed Bin Zayed Inaugurates Khalifa University Research And Innovation Exhibition Featuring Over 100 Projects

The Khalifa University Research and Innovation Exhibition 2025 has been launched by H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Khalifa University. This event is a part of UAE Innovates 2025 and showcases over 100 projects. The exhibition highlights the university's commitment to advancing research and innovation in the UAE.

During the event, H.H. Sheikh Hamed was joined by several notable figures, including Major General Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, and Sarah Musallam, Chairperson of ADEK. Other attendees included Hassan Ahmed Al Hosani, CEO of Bayanat, Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, Major General Thani Butti Al Shamsi, Director of Saif Bin Zayed Academy for Police and Security Sciences, Homaid Al Shimmari, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Khalifa University, and Prof Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University.

The exhibition featured innovative projects across three zones: Research, Industry Applications, and Startups. These zones were under the umbrella of Khalifa University Enterprises Company (KUEC). One highlight was a startup focusing on neuromorphic technology. Stakeholders from various sectors engaged with researchers to explore these innovations.

Projects showcased included a Lunar Rover, Kumrah AI, and the Emirati Reference Genome Project (ERGP). Other notable projects were the 6U CubeSat, Golde Frugal 3D-Bioprinter, Biocatalysis on chip platform, Study of Polar Sea Ice, SAVE Software, and graphene-based hydrogen tank filament winding. These projects demonstrate a wide range of technological advancements.

The industry applications zone focused on themes such as healthy longevity and energy transition. It also covered pervasive digitalisation and sustainable secure society initiatives. Projects in this area included the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), Food Pricing Dynamics analysis, AgriTech 4 for sustainable farming in the UAE, a 3D-Printed Solar Absorber, Vision-Based Flare Analytics, and The Biomedical Science Discovery (BISDI) Programme.

Additional projects on display involved developing numerical tools for identifying radioactive release origins (Rad-ID) and enhancing nuclear reactor safety. Other innovations included LLMs for utility sector customers and anomaly detection for utility meters. A Mangrove-mimicked Solar Desalination Device was also presented alongside fast chargers for electric vehicles.

Precision Oncology and AI Innovations

The exhibition also highlighted advancements in precision oncology through the Cancer Multi-Omics Atlas: A Platform for Precision Oncology. Another significant project was IgenRare: AI Assistant Tool for Rare Genetic Diseases aimed at early diagnosis and management. These projects underscore Khalifa University's role in pioneering health-related technological solutions.

This exhibition reflects Khalifa University's dedication to fostering innovation across various fields. By bringing together academia with industry partners both locally and internationally, it aims to drive forward research that addresses key challenges facing society today.
