The EAD team showcased the Dalma Fish Project to H.H., which is pioneering in using artificial intelligence within aquaculture practices. This initiative focuses on cultivating local fish in marine cages and is the first in the Middle East to integrate AI into its operations. The technology aids in identifying fish species and estimating their size and weight for better data collection.

Sheikh Hamdan praised EAD’s achievement in raising the sustainable fishing index from 8.9% in 2018 to 97.4% by 2024. This accomplishment places Abu Dhabi at the forefront globally. The agency has implemented comprehensive measures for sustainable fish stock recovery, including regulating fishing activities with sustainable gear and managing recreational fishing.

EAD has established six marine reserves within the Sheikh Zayed Protected Areas Network to oversee fishing practices. Additionally, they have advanced Abu Dhabi's sustainable aquaculture sector by restoring coral reefs and installing artificial structures through the Abu Dhabi Coral Gardens initiative.

Sheikh Hamdan concluded his visit by commending EAD’s ambitious vision for environmental sustainability across the emirate. He highlighted their impactful policies, continuous innovation, and strong partnerships with fishermen and community members as crucial elements in achieving long-term sustainability goals for fish stocks.
