Hamdan Bin Mohammed Meets Over 200 Local Dignitaries To Launch Dubai Lunch Initiative In Deira

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently engaged with over 200 local dignitaries and families from Deira. This gathering was part of the new ‘Dubai Lunch’ initiative, hosted by Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah at Al Khawaneej Majlis. The Community Development Authority supervised the event, which aims to strengthen social ties in Dubai.

The ‘Dubai Lunch’ initiative is designed to revive the traditional role of Community Majlises as inclusive spaces for fostering connections. These gatherings are intended to enhance social cohesion by bringing people together in a welcoming environment that reflects Emirati hospitality. The initiative underscores the importance of neighbourly bonds and community participation.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that a city's true strength lies not just in its infrastructure but in the close bonds shared by its people. He stated that Community Majlises have always been central to social cohesion, providing an ideal setting for people to meet and connect. Through these gatherings, values are passed on through lived experiences.

The initiative aligns with the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to build sustainable relationships among residents and encourage community involvement in public life. By hosting open lunch gatherings across Dubai, it seeks to reinforce customs and principles that define the UAE’s cohesive society.

The first gathering under this initiative took place at Al Khawaneej Majlis, highlighting the role of Majlises as platforms for dialogue and interaction. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director-General of the Community Development Authority in Dubai, noted that these spaces now foster sustainable human relationships and contribute to an improved quality of life.

Buhumaid remarked that as Dubai approaches the Year of the Family in 2026, this initiative aims to strengthen values of connection and communication. It revives the authentic social role of Majlises, bringing community members closer through a shared sense of belonging and collective awareness.

Community-Driven Initiative

The ‘Dubai Lunch’ initiative translates leadership's vision into tangible community action by creating spaces where social connections are actively strengthened. It reinforces principles such as compassion, open communication, hospitality, and shared responsibility—values essential for guiding Dubai’s future path.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that sustaining social cohesion is fundamental to Dubai’s development journey. He stated: "A city’s true strength is measured not by its infrastructure alone but by the strength of its social fabric." This initiative reaffirms principles shaping Dubai since its earliest days.

This community-driven effort aims to enhance social capital by building neighbourhood bonds and encouraging participation in public life. By reviving the traditional role of Majlises as forums for interaction, it fosters familiarity and solidarity among residents.
