H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, recently met with Emirati educators and retired teachers at the Etihad Museum. This gathering marked Emirati Day for Education. The meeting was attended by Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Aisha Miran, Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA).
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised the UAE's commitment to being a global leader in education under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership. He highlighted the nation's focus on human development as a priority, ensuring the education sector has the necessary resources. Teachers are recognised as vital to learning and development.
The Crown Prince praised teachers for their dedication and integrity in instilling patriotism and authentic values in future generations. He acknowledged retired educators' lifelong contributions to shaping leaders who serve the UAE across various sectors. "Our goal is to empower Emirati teachers as the backbone of our education system, placing full confidence in their ability to uphold this national responsibility," he stated.
Sheikh Hamdan announced 'Inspiration Talks', a new platform for discussion among educators in Dubai. Led by KHDA, this initiative aims to enhance Emirati teachers' skills in private education. It supports their professional growth and encourages greater representation in leadership roles within the sector.
During the event, discussions focused on education's future and necessary transformations to meet Dubai’s development goals. Sheikh Hamdan encouraged educators to play a significant role in building an inclusive education system aligned with Dubai’s Education 33 strategy.
The initiative will involve KHDA working closely with private schools and early childhood centres to develop training programmes supporting Emirati teachers' career progression. A mentorship programme will pair them with retired educators for guidance and professional support.
Commitment to Excellence
The educators expressed gratitude for Sheikh Hamdan's support of teaching and commitment to fostering an education system that nurtures top talent. They pledged to shape future generations who will uphold the UAE’s legacy of excellence and progress.
