Hamdan Bin Mohammed Meets Chief AI Officers To Drive Artificial Intelligence In Dubai Government
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, met with Chief AI Officers from various government bodies. This meeting was part of the UAE Government Annual Meetings 2025, held in Abu Dhabi from 4 to 6 November. The event saw participation from 500 senior officials, focusing on enhancing government performance through artificial intelligence.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that Dubai aims to become a global leader in AI by empowering national talent and leveraging technology for future development. He credited His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum's directives for making AI a key element in government progress. The next phase will involve rapid adoption of advanced technologies to boost Dubai’s competitiveness.
The meeting included over 20 Chief AI Officers and notable figures like H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. Discussions centred on the UAE’s initiatives to embrace emerging technologies and prepare Dubai for a comprehensive digital transformation.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan expressed confidence in the UAE’s youth, highlighting their role in driving AI-based solutions that enhance government efficiency and quality of life. He stressed the importance of supporting national talent to take leadership roles in AI decision-making processes.
The meeting also focused on aligning national efforts, strengthening partnerships, and sharing best practices in AI. These steps aim to position the UAE and Dubai as global leaders in using technology for innovation, improving quality of life, and fostering economic growth.
The Chief AI Officers discussed the sector's crucial role in enhancing government operations. They explored global trends, upcoming challenges, and how technology can be used to create solutions that improve efficiency and service quality.
AI Leadership Initiatives
The role of Chief AI Officer was established within federal ministries to advance AI solutions in government functions. Candidates were chosen based on their expertise in emerging technologies and AI trends. Initiatives like the recent knowledge journey to the US support the ‘We the UAE 2031’ vision and the goals of the AI Strategy 2031.
This strategy aims to position the nation as a global leader in AI and digital technologies by fostering innovation and enhancing government services through strategic use of artificial intelligence.
