Hamdan Bin Mohammed Engages With Alibaba Group Chairman On Digital Economy Initiatives
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, met with Joseph C. Tsai, Co-founder and Chairman of Alibaba Group. The meeting took place during the World Governments Summit 2025. They discussed Dubai's strategic focus on collaborating with global technology enterprises shaping digital economic ecosystems.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that Dubai's advanced digital infrastructure and progressive policies make it an attractive hub for international technology and e-commerce firms. He noted that strengthening partnerships with global players like Alibaba is crucial for Dubai's vision to lead in the digital economy and achieve the Dubai Economic Agenda D33’s goal of generating AED100 billion annually from digital transformation projects.
The discussion delved into the evolving landscape of digital commerce, AI-driven advances in retail, and new financial technologies. Both parties shared insights on how advanced technologies can enhance trade and economic resilience, contributing to sustainable growth. The role of smart logistics in accelerating business growth was also explored.
The meeting was attended by Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade; and Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).
Joseph C. Tsai participated in a fireside chat at the summit discussing artificial intelligence's future role in driving economic growth. This session highlighted how AI is becoming integral to various sectors, influencing both local and global economies.
