Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heads UAE Delegation To GCC Joint Defence Council Meeting In Doha

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, led the UAE delegation at the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Defence Ministers' meeting. This event took place during the 21st session of the Joint Defence Council in Doha, Qatar. The gathering focused on enhancing defence cooperation among GCC member states' armed forces.

Upon arriving in Doha, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan was welcomed by Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs. Also present were Jasem Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC, and other senior military officials from Qatar.

The meeting underscored the historical and fraternal bonds between GCC countries. Leaders expressed aspirations for deeper collaboration in crucial sectors. Discussions centred on improving mutual coordination and knowledge sharing to enhance training and capacity-building programmes.

The UAE delegation included notable figures such as Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications. Matar Salem Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, was also part of the team.

The focus was on equipping armed forces with modern technologies and strategies to improve readiness and efficiency. This collaboration aims to achieve superior tactical outcomes across key defence sectors. The ultimate goal is to bolster regional security and stability while supporting ambitious development goals.

Sheikh Zayed bin Khalifa bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE Ambassador to Qatar, joined the delegation alongside Major General Khalifa Rashid Al Hamli. Major General Ahmed Ali Bishoh and Brigadier General Qais Rashid Al Dhaheri were also part of this distinguished group.

The discussions highlighted the importance of collective efforts in achieving strategic objectives. By working together, GCC states aim to strengthen their defence capabilities and ensure a stable future for the region.
