Hamdan Bin Mohammed Launches Largest Edition Of IDEX 2025 In Abu Dhabi With Global Participation

The 17th International Defence Exhibition (IDEX 2025) was inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in Abu Dhabi. This event, under the patronage of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is the largest in its history. It features participation from global defence companies, senior military officials, and key decision-makers.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the UAE's defence sector progress as a result of decades of dedication to national advancement. He noted that the UAE has always prioritised securing its borders and achievements while ensuring sustainable development. This requires a motivated armed forces capable of overcoming challenges and achieving strategic goals.

The UAE remains committed to promoting peace under the leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other leaders. The country actively contributes to global peace, believing in everyone's right to a peaceful life, which is essential for development.

The opening ceremony saw attendance from Mohamed bin Mubarak Fadhel Al Mazrouei, Minister of State For Defence Affairs, Lieutenant General Issa Saif bin Ablan Al Mazrouei, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and other senior military officials.

Organised by ADNEC Group with the Ministry of Defence and Tawazun Council, IDEX 2025 runs from 17th to 21st February at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. It showcases military technologies for land and aerial defence, cybersecurity, and AI solutions.

This year's exhibition includes 1,565 companies from 65 countries, marking a 16% increase from before. The exhibition area has grown by 10% to 181,501 square metres. Notably, 731 new companies are participating for the first time, an 82% rise.

Seven countries—Qatar, Ethiopia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Cyprus—are debuting at IDEX this year. Hall 14 hosts 341 exhibitors, further expanding the event's diversity.

Innovations and Discussions

IDEX 2025 offers activities and discussions with policymakers and industry pioneers exploring innovations shaping defence's future globally. Platforms for startups allow emerging companies to present their innovations.

A major highlight is the first-ever global CBRNE Hub addressing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive threats with participation from 38 companies across 13 countries.

The exhibition displays over 3,300 products covering land and air defence systems along with AI and robotics advancements. Specialised conferences discuss future defence industries and security challenges worldwide.

Live demonstrations showcase cutting-edge defence equipment in realistic settings reflecting ongoing sector evolution.
