Upon arrival at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan was welcomed by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA. The workshop's objectives were explained to him, focusing on enhancing public-private sector collaboration, especially with real estate developers, to advance Dubai's development agenda and leadership vision.

The workshop included presentations on RTA’s master plan for road and public transport networks. Discussions centred on innovative solutions for traffic density challenges to improve mobility for residents and visitors while ensuring high quality of life. Mattar Al Tayer emphasised that developing road infrastructure is a strategic priority supported by Dubai’s leadership.

Al Tayer noted that over AED150 billion has been invested in infrastructure over 19 years. He highlighted factors contributing to traffic density, such as rapid urban growth with Dubai’s population increasing at an average annual rate of over 6%, compared to the global average of 1.1%.

Marwan bin Ghalita from Dubai Municipality stressed the need for strategic coordination between government entities and developers for sustainable growth while maintaining infrastructure efficiency. He mentioned that real estate developments have driven government entities to deliver top-tier services efficiently through proactive coordination.

Bin Ghalita added that the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040 serves as a framework for sustainable growth by integrating projects and establishing infrastructure capable of accommodating future expansion. Continued coordination is essential for maximising real estate growth benefits.

Amit Kaushal from Dubai Holding commented on the importance of workshops like 'Connecting Bridges’ in advancing national priorities, including the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040. He emphasised their commitment to developing future-ready infrastructure that enhances experiences for citizens, residents, and visitors.

Paul Griffiths from Dubai Airports highlighted the need for transport solutions matching Dubai’s growth scale. He stressed that seamless surface access is crucial for efficient journeys at airports, which serve as transition points between surface transport and air travel.

Mudassir Sheikha from Careem praised RTA’s role in empowering companies like Careem through advanced infrastructure and regulatory support. He mentioned initiatives like 'peak-time pricing' to balance supply and demand while making transport services more affordable.

Ahmad Al Matrooshi from Emaar Properties expressed commitment to fostering collaboration between government, semi-government, and private sectors. This integrated approach is key to advancing Dubai’s strategic vision and long-term goals through exchanging ideas across sectors.

The workshop focused on six themes: reducing trip frequency, expanding access to emerging transport modes, deploying intelligent road systems, raising awareness around congestion management, encouraging joint planning initiatives, and reviewing policies like flexible working hours.

The event featured interactive panel discussions with CEOs, consultants, experts, and engineers highlighting RTA’s efforts to enhance road infrastructure. These sessions aimed at improving traffic flow and offering diverse mobility options for residents and visitors alike.

The workshop served as a platform for stakeholders—including developers—to exchange ideas, provide feedback, and explore collaborative projects. These efforts aim to strengthen Dubai’s mobility ecosystem in response to its growing population needs while supporting continued development.
