Hamas Accepts Egyptian-Qatari Proposal For A Comprehensive Gaza Ceasefire Agreement
Egyptian and Qatari mediators have facilitated a proposal that Hamas has accepted, aiming to halt the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. This plan involves a 60-day pause in military actions and the repositioning of Israeli forces. This would enable aid to enter the region. Additionally, it includes exchanging Palestinian prisoners for 10 Israeli hostages and 18 bodies.
The Middle East News Agency reported that from the start of this truce, discussions will focus on establishing a lasting ceasefire. This development aligns with recent discussions in Cairo between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister.

The Egyptian Presidency's Spokesman highlighted that both leaders agreed to continue efforts with the United States to secure an immediate ceasefire and ensure aid delivery without hindrance. They firmly opposed any reoccupation of Gaza or displacement of Palestinians, asserting that peace requires an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
President El-Sisi stressed the urgency of starting Gaza's reconstruction once a ceasefire is achieved. He called for preparations to hold the Cairo International Reconstruction Conference in collaboration with the Palestinian government and the United Nations.
