Hamad Bin Zayed And Australian Officials Celebrate 50 Years Of Diplomatic Relations With The UAE

A reception was held to celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties between the UAE and Australia. H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Sam Mostyn, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia, were present at the event. Ridwaan Jadwat, Australia's Ambassador to the UAE, hosted the gathering, which took place in the evening.

The Governor-General of Australia highlighted her country's dedication to enhancing its relationship with the UAE. She expressed gratitude for the progress made over five decades. The strategic partnership between both nations remains a priority for Australia, reflecting their shared interests and mutual respect.

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, and Dr. Fahad Obaid Mohamed Altaffag, UAE Ambassador to Australia, also attended. Numerous officials and diplomats from Arab and foreign missions in the UAE joined them. Members of the Australian community residing in the country were present as well.

Ridwaan Jadwat praised the robust connections between Australia and the UAE. He emphasised that Australia views the UAE as a key partner and an attractive investment destination in sectors like tourism, healthcare, and education. These areas continue to foster economic collaboration between both countries.

The Ambassador noted a significant rise in non-oil trade between the two nations. In the first half of 2024, trade reached $2.3 billion, showing a 10.1 percent increase compared to 2023's first half. This growth underscores their strong economic ties.

UAE's Role as a Trading Partner

The UAE stands as Australia's primary trading partner in the Middle East. It also ranks as Australia's twentieth largest trading partner worldwide. This status highlights the importance of their economic relationship on a global scale.

The event underscored both countries' commitment to furthering their partnership across various sectors. The celebration marked a milestone in their diplomatic history while setting a foundation for future cooperation.
