Hajj Readiness Inspected By Minister With Launch Of Eight Mosque Projects For Pilgrims

The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, recently assessed the preparedness of mosques at holy sites for the Hajj season 1446 AH. This inspection is part of the ministry's extensive preparations to align with leadership goals. During his visit, he initiated eight significant development projects worth SAR35,803,133 aimed at improving pilgrim comfort and safety.

Among these projects is the installation of 19 structural canopies at Namirah Mosque in Arafat. These canopies are similar to those found at the Prophet’s Mosque and are designed to reduce heat exposure. The courtyard floors nearby have been coated with reflective materials to decrease temperatures by 10 degrees in shaded areas.

Minister Launches Eight Mosque Projects for Hajj

Efforts to enhance pilgrim comfort include upgrading air conditioning and ventilation systems at both Namirah and Al-Khayf mosques. Additionally, a major restoration project at Namirah Mosque focuses on replacing insulation and improving operational efficiency. The Hujjaj al-Birr Mosque in Mina is also undergoing restoration as part of these initiatives.

In Mina, preparations are underway at Al-Khayf Mosque and surrounding restrooms with the installation of 57 new misting fans. These fans aim to provide relief from heat during the pilgrimage. Furthermore, 70 cold water production units have been installed, each capable of producing 1,000 liters per hour, collectively serving up to 140,000 pilgrims hourly.

The projects also incorporate technological advancements such as an integrated audio control system and surveillance cameras. Lighting for canopies is managed by a central electronic unit. For the first time, carbon dioxide measuring devices have been installed as a safety measure to protect worshippers.

The second phase of cooling enhancements includes installing 98 misting fans in the backyard area. These efforts are part of a broader strategy to ensure that pilgrims experience a comfortable environment during their spiritual journey.

These comprehensive measures reflect a commitment to providing a safe and comfortable experience for all pilgrims attending Hajj this year. The ministry's dedication to operational excellence aligns with its goal of meeting leadership aspirations while ensuring pilgrim welfare.
