Hajj Logistics Hackathon Unveils Innovative Digital Solutions To Enhance Pilgrim Experience
Jeddah University, in collaboration with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, has launched the Hajj Logistics Hackathon. This event is part of the Hajj Conference and Exhibition. It aims to bring together programmers, innovators, and Saudi university students to develop digital tools that enhance logistics during the Hajj season.
The hackathon encourages technological advancements to improve services for pilgrims. It focuses on enhancing transportation efficiency, supply chain management, and smart service systems. The first day saw active participation from government bodies, universities, and private companies, fostering a competitive atmosphere.

Participants formed teams to tackle challenges in areas such as smart transportation, crowd management, healthcare services, environmental sustainability, the digital pilgrim experience, and smart supply chains at holy sites. This collaborative effort aims to address specific logistical issues faced during Hajj.
The event also includes interactive workshops. These sessions focus on challenge analysis, technical problem formulation, market research, user interface design, and presentation skills. Participants will present their solutions before a judging panel.
The hackathon is expected to create a national database of technical talent in smart logistics. This initiative will also bolster Jeddah University's reputation as a hub for technological innovation in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi universities play a crucial role in promoting innovation through events like this hackathon. They contribute significantly to developing creative solutions that enhance the overall experience for pilgrims during Hajj.
This event highlights the importance of integrating technology into traditional practices. By doing so, it aims to improve efficiency and provide better services for millions of pilgrims visiting Saudi Arabia each year.
