Hail International Rally Marks Two Decades Of Champion Legacy In Desert Motorsport

The Hail International Rally, established in 2006, has become a prominent event in desert motorsport. It attracts competitors from Saudi Arabia, the Arab world, and beyond. Celebrating its 20th edition in 2025, the rally continues to be a thrilling platform for global competition. The inaugural champion was Saudi racer Farhan Al-Ghalib, setting the stage for future champions.

Saudi racers have consistently excelled at the Hail Rally. The late Rajeh Al-Shammari won the second edition, continuing Saudi dominance. Qatari legend Nasser Al-Attiyah joined the ranks of champions with victories in 2008 and 2011. His skill on desert tracks is well-recognised.

Celebrating 20 Years of Hail Rally Champions

Yazeed Al-Rajhi emerged as a significant figure in the rally's history. He first claimed victory in 2009 and went on to win seven times, including titles in 2010, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2022, and 2024. His consistent performance has made him a beloved figure among fans.

The rally's international appeal grew when Czech driver Miroslav Zapletal became the first European champion in 2013. This milestone highlighted the event's expanding global reach. Saudi drivers continued to shine with Ibrahim Al-Muhanna winning in 2014 and Fares Al-Mashna taking the title in 2017.

Essa Al-Dosari further strengthened Saudi Arabia’s presence with consecutive wins in 2018 and 2019. Saleh Alabdalali secured first place in 2020. That year was unique as it featured two Baja rounds, crowning Nasser Al-Attiyah for Baja 1 and Spain’s Carlos Sainz for Baja 2.

Nasser Al-Attiyah returned to claim his fourth and fifth Hail Rally titles in 2021 and 2023 respectively. These victories solidified his status as one of the sport’s greats. Meanwhile, Yazeed Al-Rajhi's triumph in 2024 reaffirmed his legendary status within rally circles.

The Hail International Rally remains a key event on the motorsport calendar. Its rich history of champions from various backgrounds showcases its significance and allure for competitors worldwide.
