Hail International Arabian Horse Show Showcases Traditional Wooden Door Craftsmanship And Cultural Heritage

The third annual Hail International Arabian Horse Beauty Championship featured a pavilion that highlighted the traditional wooden door craftsmanship of Hail. This exhibit attracted many visitors from both the local area and beyond. Attendees learned about the techniques used to create and decorate these ornate doors, which are an integral part of Saudi Arabia's rich heritage.

Craftsman Abdullah Al-Khazam demonstrated the creation process of these wooden doors, focusing on the "old Hail house door." This particular door is made up of four beams decorated with intricate carvings and paintings. Al-Khazam also presented other designs, such as the Najdi door, which consists of three panels. Visitors admired its exceptional artistry and meticulous craftsmanship.

Hail Show Highlights Wooden Door Craftsmanship

The Made in Hail pavilion was another highlight of the event, offering a cultural experience for visitors from various regions. This pavilion showcased Hail's renowned products and historical handicrafts. Pavilion supervisor Zuhoh Al-Shamri explained that there is a section dedicated to crafting Hail's famous coffee pots, detailing their unique names and shapes.

The crafting process for these coffee pots involves several steps. It begins with the "akouz" or base, followed by stages known as "quart," "aqrab," "hat," "ghita," "qa'ah," "mashrab," and finally "jaram." Each step contributes to the pot's distinctive design and functionality.

In addition to coffee pots, the pavilion also displayed Hail's well-known incense burners. These burners start with a basic form called "jaram," crafted from the athl tree. The process continues with carving and finishing touches like nails and brass additions. Once completed, these incense burners are available in various sizes for use.

The event successfully highlighted Hail's traditional crafts, drawing attention to their cultural significance and artistic value. Visitors left with a deeper appreciation for the region's heritage and craftsmanship.
