Hail Handicrafts Festival 2025 Attracts Over 91,000 Visitors Celebrating Cultural Heritage
The Handicrafts Festival (HARFA) 2025 in Hail concluded recently, marking a significant event with over 91,000 attendees. Held at Al-Qishla Palace from January 5 to January 11, it was the first festival of its kind, aligning with the "Year of Handicrafts 2025." The festival attracted tourists from Europe, America, Asia, and the Gulf, as well as visitors from across Saudi Arabia.
Showcasing Hail's rich heritage, the festival featured various crafts such as wickerwork, carpentry, weaving, incense burner crafting, pottery, and clay building. Visitors were captivated by displays of wood engraving, embroidery, wool fluffing, leather goods, daggers, swords, and Thamudic inscriptions. Artistic carvings on stone and traditional items like ropes and decorative abayas were also highlighted.

More than 130 craftsmen and craftswomen participated in the festival. They provided live demonstrations and training courses to pass their skills to younger generations. Daily activities included hands-on learning opportunities supported by awareness programs organized by entities like the Hail Region Development Authority and the Heritage Commission.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development also played a role in these programs. They emphasized the economic and cultural importance of handicrafts. Local authorities' support in marketing the craft industry was highlighted as crucial for sustaining these traditions.
The festival celebrated Hail’s cultural heritage through artistic folklore performances and vintage car displays. A heritage-inspired environment featuring restaurants and cafes added to the festive atmosphere. Over 100 volunteers contributed to organizing the event, creating an inclusive atmosphere for all societal segments.
This unique blend of creativity, tradition, and community spirit solidified HARFA's status as a premier cultural attraction in Saudi Arabia. The event offered an engaging experience that combined cultural appreciation with community involvement.
