30th Edition Of Gulfood Begins Today In Dubai, Highlighting Innovations And Trade Opportunities In F&B Sector

The 30th edition of Gulfood, taking place at the Dubai World Trade Centre, is set to be a landmark event, bringing together over 5,500 exhibitors from 129 countries. The event, under the theme 'The Next Frontier in Food,’ is expected to facilitate around $20 billion in trade deals. It stands as a pivotal platform for CEOs, policymakers, investors, and visionaries from the global food industry.

Gulfood's significance is further underscored by the Food500 Summit, an integral part of the event. This summit serves as a confluence for titans of the industry and policymakers to deliberate on strategies for transformative change within the food sector. With speakers like Ananya Narayan of Hunter Foods and Dr. Edwini Kessie from the World Trade Organization, among others, the summit aims to address key challenges and opportunities along the food value chain.

Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri highlighted the UAE's focus on the food sector as a primary economic driver. He stated, "The selection of the food cluster as the first economic cluster to be developed by the UAE highlights the importance the country attaches to the sector as a key driver of economic diversification." He elaborated on the strategic goals, including achieving food self-sufficiency, enhancing food ecosystem management, and positioning the UAE as a leading food exporter. This initiative aligns with the 'We the UAE 2031' vision, aiming to elevate the national GDP to AED 3 trillion in the next decade.

"The landmark edition of Gulfood will serve as an ideal platform for partnerships and discussions, presenting opportunities for knowledge exchange and networking across industries," Al Marri further added, underscoring the event's role in fostering future objectives within the global trade community.

At this year’s Gulfood, innovation takes center stage with the Gulfood Innovation Awards, celebrating breakthroughs in food and beverage products, technologies, and ideas. Marcos Delorenzo, CEO of ADC, Tanmiah's Poultry Division, expressed excitement about participating, stating, "Our participation in Gulfood's 30th edition supports our strategic direction towards our vision to become the number one global halal sustainable healthy protein company by 2030." He also praised Gulfood for its continuous innovation and growth over the years.

A major highlight of the event is the introduction of 'Culinary Futurism’ by the gastronomic legend Alain Ducasse. Making his debut in the UAE, Ducasse, awarded 21 Michelin stars, will lead the Top Table and Dubai World Cuisine activations, focusing on sustainability and the future of gastronomy. He remarked, "With Top Table at Gulfood, Dubai demonstrates its incredible momentum in attracting the most brilliant talents from all over the world." His participation is set to contribute to the evolving gastronomic scene in the region.

Top Table, backed by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), showcases live masterclasses from over 120 chefs holding a combined 50 Michelin stars. This segment allows attendees to witness the creation of diverse cuisines using exhibition products, through masterclasses, tasting sessions, and demonstrations, marking Dubai's position as a burgeoning global food hub.
