Sheikha Fatima Unveils Unified Platform For Gulf Women's Sports, Empowering Regional Talent
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, widely revered as the "Mother of the Nation" and holding several prestigious positions including Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, recently highlighted the critical role of fraternal cooperation among GCC countries in enhancing Gulf civilization. This statement was made during the inauguration of the Unified Platform for Gulf Women's Sports at the Dubai Opera, where she emphasized that such collaboration forms the bedrock of progress in the Gulf region.
Sheikha Fatima pointed out that the UAE's role as the host for the 1st GCC Youth Games-UAE 2024 is a significant opportunity for showcasing the growth and aspirations of Gulf sports to a global audience. She lauded the launch of the Unified Platform as a key move towards empowering women in sports across the Gulf, driving excellence, and initiating a new chapter for women's sports development.

The initiative was praised for its innovative approach, aligning with the UAE's dedication to support and empower women not only within its borders but also across the region. Her Highness expressed her gratitude towards Gulf countries for their trust in assigning the UAE the permanent presidency of the technical committee, which will spearhead innovation and sustainability in this field.
In her concluding remarks, Sheikha Fatima reaffirmed the UAE's solid support for women's sports in the Gulf, underscoring their essential contribution to national development and pride. She voiced her confidence in women's capabilities to lead and excel in sports.
Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women's Union and President of the UAE Women Sport's Federation, also commended the Unified Platform for Gulf Women's Sport as a strategic initiative that bolsters sports among Gulf women. She highlighted the advisory committee's role in launching this platform, which aims at documenting achievements and enhancing cooperation.
The event saw attendance from notable figures such as H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council; Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary-General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf; Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee for the Youth Games.
