Gulf Poetry Forum 2024 To Celebrate Arabic Poetic Heritage In Taif
The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), is set to host the 13th Gulf Poetry Forum 2024. Scheduled for July 5 to 6 in Taif Governorate, this event aims to unite poets, critics, specialists, and enthusiasts from GCC countries.
The forum's primary goal is to foster cultural communication and uphold the values of poetry. It emphasizes the significance of the Arabic language in the region and seeks to deepen the appreciation of poetry within Gulf national culture. Additionally, it aims to identify new poetic voices from each GCC country and showcase distinguished poets.

The event will also delve into contemporary poetry trends and movements within member states. Analytical and critical studies on Arabic poetry's movement in GCC countries will be featured. This initiative supports cultural and common social goals among member states.
The forum's agenda includes an opening session, artistic performances, an introductory video, and multiple poetic evenings. On the final day, a symposium titled "The Poetic Image in the Gulf Poem between Tradition and Modernity" will be held. Participants will discuss contemporary Arabic poetry in GCC countries and the Arab world.
The symposium will cover topics such as the history of the poetic image and its characteristics in Gulf and Arabic poetry. It will present existing and new aspects of Gulf poetry with a modern vision. This discussion aims to support cultural exchange among member states.
Artistic Exhibition
An accompanying artistic exhibition will be part of the program. Pavilions for entities showcasing their contributions to Arabic poetry and literature will also be included. This exhibition aims to highlight various artistic expressions related to poetry.
