Guinness World Records Collaborates With Dubai Marathon For Unique Record-Breaking Opportunities

The Dubai Marathon, scheduled for January 12, 2025, has partnered with Guinness World Records. This collaboration offers runners a chance to set world records during the event. Participants can attempt to break records across various distance categories, adding a new dimension to this popular sporting occasion in the region.

Runners have the opportunity to achieve records in unique ways. Categories include running in costumes for charity, participating as a group, or attempting other creative challenges. Some specific record ideas involve completing the marathon while dribbling a football or basketball, running blindfolded, or dressing in school uniforms or suits.

Participants can also try running while hula-hooping or carrying an egg and spoon. There are categories for the fastest marathon times by mother-daughter and father-son duos. These innovative record attempts aim to inspire creativity and community engagement among runners.

Shaddy Gaad, Senior Marketing Manager at Guinness World Records, emphasised the initiative's benefits. "This partnership with the Dubai Marathon aligns with our mission to inspire communities to embrace sports while offering them an incredible chance to enter the record books," he stated.

Gaad also mentioned that participants could showcase their achievements through official channels. Registration for these record attempts is free from Guinness World Records. Moreover, participants will benefit from expedited processing and quick consideration for record approval.

Dubai Marathon Event Director Peter Connerton expressed enthusiasm about this initiative. "It’s a fun initiative that is open to all marathon runners who have already registered to run in the event on January 12," he said.

Connerton noted that any record attempt involving fundraising must receive written approval from authorised bodies. This requirement ensures compliance with UAE laws regarding charitable donations.

This collaboration between Guinness World Records and the Dubai Marathon promises an exciting experience for participants. It encourages creativity and community involvement while providing a platform for achieving remarkable feats during this iconic event.
