GISEC Global 2024 To Explore AI's Expanding Impact On Cybersecurity Industry

As the Middle East gears up for GISEC Global 2024, the premier cybersecurity event in the region, the spotlight is on artificial intelligence (AI) and its evolving role in cybersecurity. Scheduled to occur at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 23rd-25th April, this event will gather over 750 leading cybersecurity firms, more than 350 speakers from around the globe, and 1,000 international ethical hackers. The focus will be on tackling AI-related challenges and exploring trends that are shaping the future of technology under the theme ‘AI-Driven Cyber Resilience’.

Charles Brooks, President of Brooks Consulting International and an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University, underscores the significant impact of AI on cybersecurity. He points out that AI enhances the ability to detect and identify cyber threats more swiftly. AI-driven software and platforms are instrumental in scanning data to pinpoint unauthorized activities and potential security breaches, thereby enabling organizations to proactively address vulnerabilities. Brooks is slated to share his insights on GISEC’s Mainstage on the opening day at 13:30.

However, Brooks also cautions against the potential misuse of AI by cybercriminals to embed malware within frequently downloaded software. He elaborates on how attackers leverage malicious AI for delayed assaults that activate after a certain period, posing a significant threat to user data and system integrity.

The emergence of Generative AI is another focal point in discussions on AI's role in cybersecurity. Vectra AI, a pioneer in AI-powered cybersecurity solutions since 2012, will be among the 750 exhibitors from around 100 countries at GISEC Global 2024. Christian Borst, EMEA CTO at Vectra AI, highlights Generative AI's benefits in enhancing decision-making processes within cybersecurity operations.
