Green Riyadh Program Celebrates Saudi Arabia's 94th National Day With Tree-Planting Initiative
The Green Riyadh Program has initiated a tree-planting campaign at Shuaib Umm Qasr, a picturesque part of Wadi Hanifa, to mark Saudi Arabia's 94th National Day. Under the theme "We dream to achieve," this event attracted many local residents and volunteers who joined forces with "Green Riyadh" to plant trees in the Badeia neighborhood.
The initiative is designed to promote awareness about afforestation's significance, celebrate Saudi national identity, and showcase the program's contributions towards achieving the sustainability goals outlined in Vision 2030. By engaging the community in such activities, the program aims to highlight the importance of greening efforts and enhance participants' knowledge of sustainable practices.

Through various sustainable initiatives, the Green Riyadh Program seeks to foster strong community involvement. These events not only raise awareness about afforestation but also provide hands-on experience in planting and caring for trees. Participants gain valuable insights into sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and urban living.
Launched on 19 March 2019 by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud under the guidance of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Green Riyadh Program is one of Riyadh's major projects. It plays a crucial role in fulfilling the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, which aligns with Vision 2030's ambitious target of planting 10 billion trees across Saudi Arabia.
The Green Riyadh Program aims to plant 7.5 million trees within the city. This effort will increase vegetation cover to 9% of Riyadh's area and raise each resident's green space from 1.7 square meters to 28 square meters. Additionally, these measures are expected to lower temperatures and improve air quality by reducing pollution and dust levels.
This initiative underscores its commitment to environmental sustainability while enhancing urban life quality. By involving citizens in these activities, it strengthens community bonds and fosters a sense of responsibility towards nature conservation.
