Green Mobility Hall At WETEX 2024 Showcases Innovative Solutions For Sustainable Transport
The Green Mobility Hall at the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) showcases leading companies in mobility and green transport. This event highlights innovative solutions using cutting-edge technologies for sustainable transport. These advancements aim to lower costs of electric vehicles (EVs), enhance energy efficiency, and promote hydrogen and low-emission fuels.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) organises the 26th WETEX under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The exhibition will be held from 1st to 3rd October at the Dubai World Trade Centre. It supports initiatives like the National Electric Vehicles Policy and Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, stated, "WETEX supports the National Electric Vehicles Policy, Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the UAE's Net Zero 2050 Strategy. It also promotes the UAE’s leading position in the region in the adoption of EVs, as the UAE has one of the highest ratios of charging stations to EVs in the world."
DEWA's EV Green Charger initiative began in 2014, establishing a public charging network for electric vehicles. Currently, Dubai boasts over 700 charging stations, with around 400 operated by DEWA. This infrastructure is set to expand further in coming years.
Lt Gen Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri from Dubai Police emphasised their commitment to sustainability through adopting eco-friendly technologies. He noted that adding electric patrols helps reduce emissions while promoting clean energy use in daily operations.
Collaborative Efforts for a Greener Future
DEWA collaborates with ENOC Group on its Service Station of the Future at Expo City, Dubai. This station uniquely offers green hydrogen alongside traditional fuels and electric charging facilities. DEWA produces green hydrogen at its solar park pilot plant for use as fuel.
Muna Al Osaimi from RTA highlighted their strategic partnership with DEWA to advance sustainability efforts. She said that participating in WETEX allows them to explore smart technologies supporting RTA's Strategic Plan 2030 aligned with Dubai's resilience goals.
The UAE ranks first among Arab nations on the Global Electric Mobility Readiness Index (GEMRIX). It surpasses countries like Japan and Australia in readiness for electric mobility. A survey by Toluna group shows growing interest among UAE residents in electric vehicles.
The exhibition provides an opportunity to share best practices for a sustainable future. It aims to inspire government entities towards eco-friendly practices while fostering innovation for community safety and environmental protection.
