Grape Farming In Qassim: Enhancing Crop Diversity And Supporting Local Economic Growth

Qassim's grape cultivation is concentrated in governorates like Uyun Al-Jiwa, Al-Badayea, and Al-Mithnab. The region grows various grape types, including green and red Thompson Seedless, Black Magic, and Halwani. These varieties adapt well to local conditions, producing fruit that meets market demand in both size and flavour.

Mayor of Qassim Region Eng. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al-Majali highlighted the municipality's dedication to organizing seasonal agricultural festivals. These events support farmers and boost economic and tourism activities under the guidance of Governor Prince Dr. Faisal bin Mishaal bin Saud bin Abdulaziz.
The Director General of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture’s Qassim branch, Eng. Salman Al-Suwaina, described grape farming as a promising resource. He noted strong regional support for investment in related manufacturing industries. Qassim produces nearly 30,000 tons of grapes each season, serving local markets with significant export potential.
Al-Majali expressed pride in the variety of grape products showcased at festivals as a testament to agricultural success. Efforts are made to empower productive families by involving them in festival activities with local municipal branches like Al-Qawara Municipality.
Value-Added Opportunities
The demand for grape-derived products such as juice, molasses, raisins, and natural vinegar is increasing. These products offer value-added opportunities for farmers and productive families. The region continues expanding grape cultivation while providing technical support to farmers to boost productivity.
The ongoing Grape Festival in Busaiteen, Uyun Al-Jiwa attracts many visitors and shoppers until Friday. This event highlights the importance of grapes in Qassim's agriculture sector.
