Grand Prix Of Sharjah To Host F1H2O UIM World Championship From December 6 To 8, 2023
The 23rd edition of the Grand Prix of Sharjah - F1H2O UIM World Championship is set to take place at Khalid Lagoon in Sharjah from December 6th to 8th. This prestigious event will feature 19 drivers from nine teams competing for the top three positions in this globally recognised championship. The event is under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.
Organised by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, this championship will crown the world champions for the 2024 season in both driver and team categories. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Authority, emphasised the significance of hosting the final round of the UIM F1H2O World Championship as a major global accomplishment for both the UAE and Sharjah in marine sports.

Al Midfa expressed excitement about welcoming world champions and fans to this esteemed event. He stated, "We are delighted to welcome world champions and fans of this thrilling sport to such a prestigious event. Hosting this championship reflects our commitment to supporting international sports while providing a prominent platform for world champions to compete on UAE soil." He also acknowledged the UAE Marine Sports Federation's efforts in promoting marine sports nationwide.
The UIM F1H2O World Championship consists of international races featuring single-seater powerboats. Several teams from the United Arab Emirates are vying for this year's championship title. The Sharjah Team from the Sharjah International Marine Sports Club includes Canadian Rusty Wyatt, ranked second, and Finnish driver Filip Roms. The Abu Dhabi Team features racers Rashed Al Qemzi and Thani Al Qamzi from the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club.
The Victory Team from Dubai International Marine Club is also participating with racers Ahmad Al Fahim and Erik Stark. The competition is crucial as it affects participants' standings in the championship. First place earns 20 points, second place gets 15 points, and third place adds 12 points to their total score.
This exciting event spans three days: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 6th through 8th. It promises thrilling races that will determine who takes home the coveted titles in this renowned championship.
