Saudi Arabia's Grand Mosque has initiated an online application system to facilitate the donation of Iftar meals. This system is designed to simplify the donation process, allowing benefactors to easily contribute to the communal breaking of the fast. To ensure the highest standards, applications must comply with strict criteria, including contracting with authorised catering services and following packaging guidelines as per the Saudi Food and Drug Authority. Individual donors are allowed to offer up to two large trays of food, while charitable entities can provide up to ten.

This digital advancement forms part of a larger effort to improve the Ramadan experience at the Grand Mosque. An impressive estimate of over 8.5 million Iftar meals, along with the sacred Zamzam water, is expected to reach more than 45 million beneficiaries. The Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, accentuated this commitment by noting the Kingdom's milestone of welcoming 13.55 million Umrah pilgrims in 2023, surpassing the record set in 2019.
