Grand Imam Visits Sheikh Zayed’s Tomb, Praises Legacy Of Tolerance

Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. He was welcomed by Dr. Yousif Al-Obaidli, Director-General of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center.

During his visit, Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb went to the tomb of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. There, he recited the Fatiha and prayed for mercy and forgiveness for Sheikh Zayed, reflecting on his legacy of promoting tolerance, coexistence, and peace globally.

The Grand Imam highlighted that Sheikh Zayed was an exemplary leader whose vision transformed the UAE into a model of development and progress while preserving religious values. His contributions to charitable and humanitarian efforts have significantly fostered a culture of tolerance and coexistence through his noble actions and stances.

Accompanying Professor Ahmed Al-Tayeb were Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat; Dr. Khalifa Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed bin Zayed University for Humanities; and Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders.

The Grand Imam praised the civilizational message conveyed by the mosque. He noted its role in advocating coexistence, tolerance, and openness to others based on the virtues and values instilled by Sheikh Zayed. The mosque's efforts in promoting a tolerant Islamic culture and enhancing civilizational communication among diverse cultures worldwide were also commended.

Dr. Yousif Al-Obaidli expressed gratitude for the visit, emphasizing how it underscores the importance of continuing Sheikh Zayed's legacy in fostering peace and understanding among different peoples.
