Grand Hajj Symposium Discusses Jurisprudence Of Concessions To Ease Hajj Rituals

Makkah, SPA—The 48th edition of the Grand Hajj Symposium dedicated its second main session to the "Jurisprudence of Concessions and its Impact on Facilitating the Hajj Ritual". This session was chaired by Sheikh Dr. Jibril bin Muhammad Al-Busaili, a member of the Council of Senior Scholars. The session saw participation from prominent figures including Sheikh Muhammad Anwar Iskandar, General President of the Indonesian Ulema Council; Sheikh Asghar Ali, Emir of the All-India Central Ahl al-Hadith Association; Dr. Sami Al-Suqair, and Dr. Yusuf bin Saeed, both members of the Council of Senior Scholars.

The session focused on the concept of concessions, which means facilitation. Various types of concessions were discussed, including those related to Ihram. For instance, it is permissible to assume Ihram before reaching the Miqat if one fears missing it. This is a significant facilitation for pilgrims who might face difficulties in adhering to traditional timings.

Easing Hajj Rituals Discussed at Symposium

Additionally, concessions related to Tawaf and Saee were highlighted. One notable concession is the permissibility of combining the stoning (Jamarat) ritual on one day during the last days of Tashreeq for those who find it difficult to visit the Jamarat daily. Pilgrims may combine the stoning during the three days into one day and appoint someone else to perform the stoning on their behalf.

The Grand Hajj Symposium concluded with a presentation on the Two Holy Mosques and future technologies. This presentation was delivered by Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Saqr, Digital Experience Advisor at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque. The discussion centred around how new technologies could enhance the experience for pilgrims in future Hajj seasons.

Honouring Partners

The event also included a segment dedicated to honouring the symposium's partners. This gesture acknowledged their contributions and support in making the symposium a success.
