Gracia Group And Emirates Agricultural Pioneers Initiative Distributes One Million Seedlings To Emirati Homes

The 'Plant the Emirates' National Programme, in collaboration with the National Agriculture Centre, Gracia Group, and the Emirates Agricultural Pioneers Association, has launched a significant initiative. This programme involves distributing one million seedlings of ornamental plants and fruit trees to Emirati households nationwide. The effort supports sustainable agriculture and encourages community involvement in enhancing national food security.

At Gracia Farm in Abu Dhabi, the event was attended by Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, along with ministry officials and Hamed Al Hamed, Chairman of the Emirates Agricultural Pioneers Association. Dr. Amna expressed gratitude for the generous contribution from Gracia Group and the association. She stated, "We are delighted with the generous contribution of Gracia Group and the Emirates Agricultural Pioneers Association, who have provided one million seedlings of ornamental plants and fruit trees. This remarkable initiative strengthens our efforts to engage the community in home farming and boost agricultural production."

One Million Seedlings Distributed in UAE

This initiative aligns with the UAE's goals to promote sustainable agricultural practices. It aims to involve various community segments in agricultural production to boost national food security. The National Agriculture Centre plays a crucial role by supporting local farmers and enhancing crop production through innovative solutions.

Hamed Al Hamed emphasised their commitment to advancing agriculture in line with leadership's vision. He said, "We are committed to realising our wise leadership's vision of elevating the agricultural sector, as it is a responsibility shared by all." The initiative will distribute seedlings to homes, organisations, and schools across the UAE.

The first batch of 10,000 seedlings has already been distributed to various entities such as schools, government bodies, hospitals, mosques, universities, and private companies. A special committee comprising Gracia employees and volunteers ensures continuous seedling supply for future distributions.

A dedicated website will soon be launched featuring educational videos on planting and caring for seedlings. This platform aims to educate participants on best practices for sustainable growth. Additionally, awareness workshops will be conducted to teach proper seedling care techniques.

Expanding Green Spaces

The initiative seeks to expand green spaces across the UAE by providing a variety of seedlings suitable for the local climate. By involving both public and private sectors, this effort enhances environmental quality while promoting healthy plant growth.

Selected schools, government entities, and individuals will receive seedlings based on their requests and commitment to maintaining them. This selective distribution ensures that recipients are dedicated to nurturing their plants effectively.

The programme represents a collaborative effort among key stakeholders to address agricultural challenges while fostering community participation in greening initiatives nationwide.
