GPSSA Launches Initiative To Exempt Small Private Employers From Late Registration Fees And End-of-Service Costs

The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) has introduced a new initiative to aid the UAE's economic expansion. This programme exempts small private sector employers, governed by federal pension laws, from extra charges due to delays in registering insured individuals or processing end-of-service cases within the legal timeframes.

This initiative is crucial for GPSSA's mission to assist small private sector enterprises, which significantly contribute to the national economy by creating jobs and driving economic diversification. By alleviating financial burdens, these businesses can achieve better financial stability, reinvest in growth, and enhance their impact on the national economy, thereby contributing more to the GDP.

The waiver also aims to support Emiratisation within the private sector. By reducing financial pressures on small businesses and empowering local talent, it enhances their capacity to attract and retain Emirati nationals as essential members of their workforce. The initiative targets about 1,906 small private sector employers with no more than four Emirati nationals in their workforce.

Timeframe and Eligibility

The waiver covers additional amounts incurred between 1st January 2024 and 30th April 2025. Payments outside this period will be reviewed individually, considering unique circumstances. This approach shows GPSSA’s dedication to balancing public interest with the specific needs of those who depend on its services.

Faras Abdul Karim Al Ramahi, Director-General of GPSSA, stated that this initiative highlights GPSSA's commitment to supporting the business sector, which is vital for the national economy. He noted that it eases financial burdens on small businesses, acknowledging their key role in sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the UAE.

He remarked, "This initiative aims to create a supportive environment for small businesses, enabling them to focus on growth and success. These companies are incubators of innovation and key sources of creativity and job opportunities for UAE nationals, contributing to social and economic stability. This step aligns with our wise leadership's vision and tireless efforts to eliminate bureaucracy, streamline processes, and ease burdens on the business sector, enhancing the country's business environment and attracting more investment."

Eligible small businesses will be contacted directly by GPSSA without needing further action from them as part of the 'Zero Government Bureaucracy' programme. Businesses not receiving direct notification are not included in this initiative.

GPSSA stressed adherence to pension and social security laws while reaffirming its commitment to helping small businesses remain compliant. Support includes offering clear guidance and resources for employers to understand their legal responsibilities and meet insurance requirements, ensuring both employees' and employers' rights are protected.
