Government Leaders And Industry Experts Emphasise The Importance Of Construction At Big 5 Global Opening Day

The 45th Big 5 Global event commenced at the Dubai World Trade Centre, drawing government officials, industry leaders, and policymakers. They gathered to discuss the construction sector's potential in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA), which has a US$9 trillion project pipeline. The event highlighted the region's significant role in global construction.

Day one of Big 5 Global featured strategic summits like LiveableCitiesX, Future FM, and GeoWorld. These included the Big 5 Global Leaders’ Summit and IFMA Global | Middle East Summit. Policymakers and industry innovators engaged in insightful discussions on the future of construction and urban development.

Construction's Role Highlighted at Big 5 Global

On the exhibition floor, major companies secured crucial deals that underscored the event's business growth impact. BAUER Maschinen GmbH partnered with Pinnacle International Piling, signing a multi-million-euro agreement for a BAUER BG36 piling rig. Hermann Schrattenthaler from BAUER Maschinen GmbH stated: "This milestone deal demonstrates our shared commitment to delivering cutting-edge, sustainable solutions for the region’s infrastructure demands."

Another notable partnership involved WhiteHelmet from Saudi Arabia and India's SB Scaffolding. Their MoU introduced WhiteHelmet’s 360-degree documentation solutions to India. This marked a significant moment in regional construction innovation, showcasing global collaborations at this year's event.

Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, opened the Big 5 Global Leaders’ Summit with a keynote speech. He set a visionary tone for leadership in the sector. Fred Mills, Founder of The B1M, highlighted construction's transformative role by saying: "There is no other industry where you can make a bigger difference on this planet than construction. Every time they say impossible, we [the construction industry] prove them wrong."

GeoWorld Summit focused on geospatial technology advancements. Dr. Hasni Ghedira from Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence discussed leveraging GIS for identifying vulnerable areas during extreme weather conditions.

International Participation

The event celebrated international cooperation through vibrant country pavilions including Turkiye, China, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Italy. The Saudi Export Development Authority participated with its "Made in Saudi" programme featuring 55 companies showcasing innovations in construction.

Thamer Almishrafi from Saudi Exports expressed satisfaction with their participation: "We are pleased to participate once again in Big 5 Global... This event provides us with a unique opportunity to connect with international partners... highlight the strength of the ‘Saudi Made’ brand... reinforce our commitment to driving sustainable growth and development in the construction sector."

The IFMA Global | Middle East Summit brought together facility management leaders worldwide. They focused on innovations enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability within facility management practices.
