Governance Of Emerging Technologies Summit To Address AI And Quantum Computing In Abu Dhabi

The Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) has announced the first Governance of Emerging Technologies Summit (GETS). This event will be held at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi from 5-6 May 2025. It aims to gather over 500 participants from around the world to discuss global cooperation on managing emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and quantum computing.

The summit, themed "Shaping Responsible Governance of AI and Emerging Technologies in a Future Digital Economy," aims to create strong governance frameworks. It encourages inclusive discussions among various stakeholders, focusing on justice and sectors such as finance, healthcare, education, and creative industries. The event is hosted by ATRC with the UAE Public Prosecution as a strategic partner.

GETS 2025 highlights the UAE's dedication to ethical innovation and responsible technology use. It reflects the nation's open approach to innovation policy. Faisal Al Bannai, Advisor to the President of the UAE for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology Affairs and Secretary-General of ATRC, stated that GETS is crucial for building a safer future for emerging technologies. "This platform is an opportunity to create shared principles that will shape the future of technology for the benefit of all," he said.

Chancellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, UAE Attorney-General, highlighted the rapid technological revolution underway. He mentioned that technologies like AI, Web3, and quantum computing offer significant opportunities but require strong governance foundations for a safe society. He stressed that GETS 2025 serves as a global platform for exchanging knowledge and setting standards for responsible innovation.
