Gov Games Celebrates Its Fifth Edition: Champions Crowned In Four Diverse Categories
Under the auspices of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the Gov Games concluded its fifth and most expansive edition at Dubai Festival City. The event, which spanned four days, was a collaboration with DP World as the Official Partner and the Dubai Sports Council. It featured 194 international teams vying in a fiercely competitive environment, with over AED2.8 million awarded in prize money across four distinct categories, marking the introduction of a youth category for the first time.
The opening of the Junior Gov Games by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the event's global appeal and its role in encouraging participants to enhance their preparedness and leadership skills, reflecting Dubai's ethos of excellence. His Highness commended the winners for their exceptional level of competitiveness and their embodiment of the competition's core values, including promoting a healthy lifestyle through fitness and cooperation.

The crowning of the Gov Games 2024 winners took place in the presence of notable figures such as Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of Dubai Executive Council, and Ayoub Al Mulla, Chief Operating Officer at We One DP World. The inaugural Junior Gov Games saw team F3 clinching first place, followed by Parkour DXB and Desert Storm Juniors in second and third places respectively, with prize money allocated accordingly.
In the Battle of the Government tournament, Emirates Schools Establishment emerged victorious in the female category, with Dubai Electricity & Water Authority and Dubai Police securing second and third places. The male category saw General Directorate of Civil Defence - Dubai taking first place, with Ajman Government and Dubai State Security following.
The Battle of the Community tournament was won by NAS, with Block20 x Empire and Spirit Level completing the top three. The Battle of the Cities tournament showcased international teams from various countries, with Copenhagen, Denmark winning for the second consecutive year, followed by Moscow, Russia, and Saint Petersburg, Russia.
Winners in each category received AED500,000 for first place, AED250,000 for second place, and AED150,000 for third place. The event attracted over 17,000 spectators, including families and government entity leaders who came to support their teams.
The fifth edition of the Gov Games not only solidified its status as one of Dubai’s premier sporting events but also highlighted Dubai's capacity to host major international events. The competition enjoyed support from a prestigious array of partners and sponsors including DP World as the Official Partner; strategic sponsor Dubai Sports Council; golden sponsors Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat), Damac Properties, Emirates Post Group (7X), along with silver sponsors Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) and First Abu Dhabi Bank. Additional support came from Dubai Festival City, Home Bakery, Al Fares International Tents, Jeep, Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), Event’s Security Committee, Dubai Health Authority, and Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.
This year’s Gov Games not only celebrated athletic prowess but also fostered community spirit and showcased Dubai's unwavering commitment to excellence in all spheres.
