GOSI Concludes Regional Social Security Forum Highlighting Innovations In Social Security Systems
The Regional Social Security Forum for Asia and the Pacific (RSSF Asia-Pacific) wrapped up its activities in Riyadh. Hosted by GOSI over three days, the event brought together representatives from government and private sectors, along with social security experts globally. The forum focused on reviewing key innovations, insurance solutions, and discussing opportunities and challenges in insurance protection.
During the closing ceremony, Abdulaziz Bin Hassan Alboug, Governor of GOSI, expressed gratitude to all attendees and contributors for making the forum a platform for cooperation and dialogue. AlBoug stated: "This Forum has achieved a historic milestone, garnering the highest number of registrations ever recorded in the history of the regional forum. This accomplishment reflects the significance of our collective mission and the enthusiasm within our community." He welcomed future participation in upcoming events in Saudi Arabia.

The final day included a high-level session on social security policies in the Asia-Pacific region. Dr. Mohammed Azman, President of ISSA, moderated discussions on strategies to strengthen social security as an investment for sustainable development. The session addressed challenges like demographic changes and economic transformations while exploring innovative solutions such as expanding coverage and developing digital tools.
Participants engaged in discussions under the theme "Enhancing and Adapting Social Security Systems in Asia and the Pacific." They explored strategies to align systems with demographic trends, labour market shifts, and socio-economic transformations to achieve comprehensive coverage. Panel discussions included topics like ensuring social security coverage for all workers by addressing challenges faced by insurance laws.
A session titled "Adapting Social Security Systems to Meet the Needs of Ageing Societies" highlighted global best practices for supporting elderly populations. Speakers emphasized proactive strategies to promote health and employability among seniors. Successful experiences from various countries were shared to ensure sustainability in long-term healthcare services.
The final session focused on resilience and transitions within social security systems. It discussed adapting to global changes and economic crises to maintain service sustainability. Speakers stressed developing flexible strategies to address challenges faced by social protection laws worldwide during crises.
Exhibition Showcases Innovative Solutions
On the sidelines of the forum, an exhibition showcased advanced insurance products provided by social insurance organizations. Attendees explored innovative technologies designed to enhance clients' quality of life and ensure service continuity sustainably.
Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, Secretary-General of ISSA, thanked Saudi Arabia’s GOSI for hosting the forum with exceptional organization. He emphasized leveraging outcomes to strengthen regional social security laws: "The success of the Forum reflects the commitment of participating countries to support the transformation of social insurance laws and foster innovation to keep pace with global developments."
