Google Gemini AI Features Arrive In Chrome With Personal Intelligence And Auto Browse

Google is expanding Gemini AI inside its Chrome browser, adding new tools and a refreshed layout. A Gemini chatbot panel will appear on the right side of Chrome, staying open while users browse websites and allowing quick access to AI help at any time.

The rollout includes Gemini-powered tools such as the Nano Banana image generator, Google’s "Personal Intelligence" feature and "Auto browse," an agentic AI system. With one prompt, Auto browse can handle multi-step actions across different websites, aiming to reduce manual clicking and repeated form filling.

"Our testers have used it for all sorts of things: scheduling appointments, filling out tedious online forms, collecting their tax documents, getting quotes for plumbers and electricians, checking if their bills are paid, filing expense reports, managing their subscriptions, and speeding up renewing their driving licenses — a tonne of time saved," said Parisa Tabriz, Vice President of Chrome, in a blog post.

These examples show how Gemini AI inside the Chrome browser is being tested as a practical assistant. The tools are being designed for everyday tasks, from basic admin to handling household services, reflecting Google’s aim to make browsing more task-focused rather than only page-focused.

Google is also using Gemini AI to make Chrome feel more personal for each user. Earlier this month, the company introduced the "Personal Intelligence" feature in the Gemini app. This tool draws on information from services like Gmail and Google Photos, then feeds tailored answers into the Gemini chatbot.

By linking these services, Gemini AI can help summarise emails, highlight key photos or pull useful details for questions, without users searching each app. The same approach is expected to shape how the Chrome browser responds, offering context-aware suggestions while users move between tabs.

The broader update reflects Google’s support for a concept long promoted by Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis, who has described the goal as a "universal assistant," which he has defined as a helper that can plan and take actions on a user’s behalf across any device. The new Gemini AI features in the Chrome browser mark another step towards that assistant handling routine digital tasks for users worldwide, including in the Middle East.
