Google CEO Sundar Pichai Discusses AI Evolution And Quantum Computing At World Governments Summit 2025
Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google and Alphabet, shared insights on AI's rapid growth, quantum computing's potential, and technology's impact on global economies. His discussion with Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, took place at the World Governments Summit 2025 in Dubai. The event runs from 11th to 13th February under the theme ‘Shaping Future Governments’.
Pichai highlighted AI's growing role in everyday life, citing models like Gemini that enhance efficiency and accessibility. He pointed out global AI breakthroughs, mentioning DeepSeek's innovation as an example of how open-source models can drive progress. He also discussed AI's influence on digital transformation and search engine evolution.

During the summit, Pichai addressed the competition from emerging platforms like ChatGPT in reshaping search engines. Despite this diversification, Google continues to see strong growth in search volume. This trend underscores AI's potential to expand rather than replace existing platforms. Pichai expressed confidence in Google's leadership in AI-driven search innovations while encouraging a collaborative ecosystem.
Pichai also reflected on Google's achievements in quantum computing, highlighting recent breakthroughs that unlock immense computational power. He emphasized that it is too early for strict regulations on quantum technology. The World Governments Summit 2025 gathers over 30 heads of state and government along with more than 80 international organizations. It features 21 global forums exploring future trends through over 200 interactive sessions with more than 300 prominent speakers including presidents and ministers.
The summit will publish 30 strategic reports with its international knowledge partners. It includes over 30 ministerial meetings attended by more than 400 ministers, emphasizing its significance as a platform for discussing major transformations worldwide.
