Global Travel And Tourism Market Expected To Reach $11.1 Trillion By 2024 At ATM

The Arabian Travel Market (ATM) will focus on the crucial role of connectivity in tourism's future. The event, themed "Global Travel: Developing Tomorrow’s Tourism Through Enhanced Connectivity," will take place at Dubai World Trade Centre from 28th April to 1st May 2025. This gathering aims to shape the future of global travel and tourism, highlighting the importance of connectivity across various sectors.

In July 2024, the Dubai Media Office reported a record-breaking 9.31 million international overnight visitors in the first half of 2024. This figure marks a 9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). Such growth underscores Dubai's appeal as a leading global travel destination.

Travel Market to Hit USD 11 1 Trillion by 2024

Dubai's tourism success is largely due to strategic government initiatives like the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. This agenda aims to position Dubai as a top urban economy and global business hub by doubling its economy over the next decade. Key strategies include reducing business costs and boosting foreign investment.

The UAE is also advancing smart city development, using technology to improve urban living while reducing environmental impact. These efforts contribute significantly to Dubai's status as a premier tourism hub, enhancing its economic development and international reputation.

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) forecasts a record year for travel and tourism, with an economic contribution of US$11.1 trillion globally. The sector currently supports 348 million jobs worldwide, with predictions that it will employ 449 million people within the next decade.

Danielle Curtis, Exhibition Director ME at ATM, stated, "Connectivity extends beyond technology. It also involves creating communities that serve as important centres for trade and tourism. By working together and embracing innovation and better connectivity, ATM is paving the way for the future of travel."

ATM's Role in Shaping Tourism

ATM provides a platform for professionals from leisure, MICE, luxury, and corporate travel sectors to network and explore new trends. The event fosters cross-border collaboration by bringing together diverse perspectives from around the world.

Curtis further noted that these figures highlight travel and tourism's growing economic influence. She added that connectivity, global collaboration, and sustainable travel practices would be key topics at ATM 2025.

In its previous edition in 2024, ATM welcomed over 47,000 participants from more than 161 countries—a 17.7 percent increase from before. The event featured an extensive conference programme with insights from international and regional experts on its Global and Future stages.

This year's theme will explore how connectivity across borders, industries, and communities defines tourism's future. By focusing on these aspects, ATM aims to ensure that future tourism is more sustainable and inclusive while closely linked with global economic growth.
