Exploring Social Sustainability In Project Management At Global Forum

The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque took part in a dialogue session titled "The Portfolio of Social Sustainability" at the third Global Project Management Forum (GPMF). The event, held in Riyadh from June 2 to 3, operated under the slogan "We Achieve the Dream: Leadership, Empowerment, Sustainability."

Eng. Sultan Al-Qurashi, representing the authority, discussed social sustainability and its connection to managing projects and facilities at the Grand Mosque. He emphasised the mosque's significance as a place for worship, health care, and knowledge dissemination. These aspects are crucial in designing infrastructure that supports community life at the Two Holy Mosques.

Social Sustainability in Projects

Al-Qurashi highlighted that ensuring the security and safety of pilgrims is a key indicator of social sustainability in project management at the Two Holy Mosques. He also mentioned efforts to achieve satisfaction and comfort for visitors. Community participation and private sector collaboration in providing services to mosque visitors were also noted.

He underscored the commitment of Saudi leadership to fully support the Two Holy Mosques, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 goals. The authority, through various projects and sector collaborations, aims to meet all pilgrims' needs. Notable projects include simultaneous translation of sermons at the Two Holy Mosques and on the Day of Arafah, as well as children's guesthouses.
