Global Manufacturing And Industrialisation Summit 2024 To Focus On Industrial Safety During Abu Dhabi Business Week
The Global Manufacturing and Industrialisation Summit (GMIS) has announced that its 2024 edition will occur on 5th December. This event will coincide with the inaugural Abu Dhabi Business Week, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, will host it.
The theme for GMIS 2024 is "Resilient by Design: The Next Frontier in Industrial Safety." It aims to bring together government officials and industry leaders to enhance global safety frameworks. Discussions will focus on predictive maintenance, real-time risk detection, and public-private partnerships in standardising safety procedures globally.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, highlighted the UAE's commitment to industrial growth. He stated, "In line with the vision and directives of the leadership to support the growth of the industrial sector, ensure the sustainability of supply chains, and enhance the sector’s contribution to economic diversification and sustainable development."
Dr. Al Jaber emphasised that hosting GMIS in Abu Dhabi aligns with MoIAT’s strategic vision to position the UAE as a global hub for industry and innovation. He invited investors and manufacturers to explore opportunities at the Make it in the Emirates Forum from 19-22 May 2025 at ADNEC.
Gerd Müller, UNIDO Director-General, stressed the importance of safety in industrial development. He remarked, "Sustainable industrial development means social and ecological standards - and far too many people are affected daily by unsafe working conditions, particularly in developing countries. This is unacceptable."
Abu Dhabi's Role in Industrial Excellence
ADDED is leading efforts to develop key industrial clusters in sectors like advanced manufacturing and space technology. These initiatives aim to boost competitiveness, enable local production, and support sustainable manufacturing practices within Abu Dhabi.
Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri from ADCCI expressed excitement about hosting GMIS again since its inception in 2017. He noted that this reflects Abu Dhabi's dedication to advancing industrial excellence through forward-thinking policies that meet global market demands.
Commitment to Worker Safety
Brigadier Salem Abdullah bin Barrak Al Dhaheri from ADCDA affirmed their partnership with GMIS reflects a commitment to workforce safety using advanced technology. He added that discussions at GMIS 2024 would enhance global safety standards for workers worldwide.
GMIS 2024 will also feature launching the "Manifesto for Global Industrial Safety," a strategic plan leveraging technology to address safety risks across sectors effectively. This marks a significant milestone for GIFIS since its launch during GMIS 2021 with partners like UNIDO.
The summit provides an international platform for addressing global industrial safety challenges while promoting cross-sector collaboration and innovation. It aims to shape a safer future for manufacturing industries worldwide by integrating digital technologies prioritising safety-first principles across sectors.
