Global Logistics Forum 2024 Inaugurated By Minister Saleh Al-Jasser With Participation From 30 Countries
The Global Logistics Forum 2024 was inaugurated by Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The event, themed "Reshaping the Global Map of Logistics," is taking place in Riyadh from October 12 to 14. It features participation from 130 speakers and 80 exhibitors representing 30 countries, including ministers, senior officials, and industry leaders.
During his opening remarks, Al-Jasser expressed gratitude to King Salman for his support and acknowledged Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's role in transforming the logistics sector. He stated: "The present moment is ideal for convening this forum, as the global logistics sector is at a pivotal juncture. Current global challenges underscore the need for safeguarding supply chains and maintaining the operational continuity of logistics services, which are fundamental to global trade."

Al-Jasser highlighted Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to become a global trade hub through Vision 2030. The Kingdom is investing heavily in its logistics infrastructure with government support to enhance supply chain efficiency and connect international markets. The National Transport and Logistics Strategy aims to invest over SAR1 trillion by 2030, with SAR200 billion already allocated.
Saudi Arabia's strategic location has historically placed it at key trade routes like the Incense and Spice Routes. Today, it seeks to shape its logistic future through advanced infrastructure projects such as King Salman International Airport, modern seaports, and an expanded railway network. These developments are crucial for achieving Vision 2030 goals.
The transport and logistics system in Saudi Arabia has seen significant achievements. The Kingdom has advanced 17 ranks in the World Bank's Logistics Performance Index and improved by 14 positions in the International Air Transport Association's global connectivity index. Additionally, last year saw a reduction equivalent to one million truck trips on roads due to the railway network, contributing significantly to lowering carbon emissions.
The forum brings together leaders from both public and private sectors along with experts from various countries. Panel discussions focus on enhancing international cooperation in logistics services development. Key topics include empowering global markets, investing in infrastructure resilience against disruptions like those in the Red Sea area, energy port advancements, and talent empowerment for future industries.
Al-Jasser stressed collaboration over these two days is vital for addressing challenges faced by the sector while aiming towards sustainable prosperity globally.
