Global Labor Ministers Convene In Riyadh To Tackle Employment Challenges And Develop Solutions

The Global Labor Market Conference's second edition featured a roundtable meeting of labor ministers. Held today, it was led by Ahmed Al-Rajhi, Minister of Human Resources and Social Development. The gathering included 40 labor ministers from various countries and Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

Al-Rajhi expressed Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a central hub for predicting and advancing labor markets by hosting this conference. He stated that the event serves as a strategic platform for global cooperation, aiming to unify international efforts and share expertise. The goal is to create innovative solutions for labor market challenges and enhance sustainability amid rapid technological changes.

Labor Ministers Meet in Riyadh to Address Challenges

The meeting addressed pressing issues facing global labor markets, facilitating an exchange of ideas and expertise among participants. Following these discussions, Al-Rajhi announced eight key measures aimed at enhancing labor market flexibility and inclusiveness. Among the measures introduced are efforts to improve labor market flexibility to accommodate diverse work arrangements such as remote and part-time opportunities. Additionally, there is a focus on supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to drive job creation.

Initiatives were also launched to promote employment among marginalized groups, ensuring a more inclusive workforce. These steps are designed to prepare the workforce for future challenges while fostering economic growth through job creation.
